It’s been on my list for a while and this past December I finally joined the great team at the Elephant Valley Project @evpcambodia for an unforgettable experience. The Sanctuary is nestled into the jungle of the Mondulkiri region of Cambodia not far from the Vietnamese border. 10 Elephants call the EVP their home now after years of hard labor and abuse and finally get a chance to be one with nature again to learn what it means to be an Elephant rather than a work machine. After a long and exhausting car drive from Phnom Penh we made it to the Sanctuary where we spent the night in the Jungle before heading out to hike all day, meeting the elephants alongside their caretakers. We have huge respect for the EVP and all Volunteers and encourage everyone to check out their website and consider visiting their beautiful place yourself or donating to help the cause.
